Ryder Cup Champions Celebrate 100 Years of Circolo Golf Villa d’Este

On Lake Como, where light reflects upon the water and every detail tells a story, an experience comes to life that brings together the tradition of golf, the talent of great champions and the timeless beauty of Villa d’Este.

Two days to be lived between Villa d’Este and Circolo Golf Villa d’Este, where the swing becomes the true protagonist.

One Lake, One Shot

Villa d’Este welcomes its guests into a suspended dimension, where golf meets the most authentic romance of the lake. The protagonists are figures who have shaped the recent history of the sport: Luke Donald, three-time consecutive European Ryder Cup captain; José María Olazábal, a timeless symbol of the competition; Edoardo Molinari and Francesco Molinari, key figures in several editions and vice-captains of the European team.

Alongside them, some of the finest Italian talents from the DP World Tour.

As the sun begins to set, guests will find themselves just steps away from the champions, sharing gestures, stories and passions. All while, in front of the Hotel, a floating green emerges upon the water. The perfect island for a swing destined to become part of history.

A perfect shot: playing alongside some of the world’s greatest golfers and dining together while listening to the stories of those who have left an indelible mark on the most important fairways of the game.

Pro-Am and Legends’ Exhibition

At Circolo Golf Villa d’Este, the game reveals its purest essence.

One of Italy’s most fascinating courses, winding through a landscape shaped by nature and designed by masters of the game. Centuries-old trees guard every fairway, while sunlight filters softly through the branches, illuminating the course with ever-changing reflections and contrasts.

Here, time becomes emotion.

In its most symbolic year, the Centenary, the Club tells a story made of footsteps, memorable shots and moments that shaped the history of golf. Some of the world’s greatest champions have walked these fairways, many of whom found here the beginning of a journey that would later lead them onto the international tours.

For nine holes, the game is shared.

Luke Donald

"The Captain shaping the new European golf dynasty"

Former World Number One for 56 weeks, Donald captivated audiences around the world thanks to the elegance and precision of his short game, considered among the finest in golf history.

In 2011, he became the first golfer ever to win both money lists on either side of the Atlantic in the same season, claiming victory in both the Race to Dubai and the PGA Tour standings.

The Captain: after leading Team Europe to triumph in Rome in 2023, he guided the team to another historic away victory in New York in 2025. He has officially been confirmed as Captain for the 2027 Ryder Cup, becoming the first to hold the role for three consecutive editions in the modern era.

José María Olazábal

“The Soul of the Ryder Cup”

Two-time Masters Champion at Augusta (1994, 1999) and member of the World Golf Hall of Fame.

Together with Seve Ballesteros, he formed the most successful partnership in Ryder Cup history. He is the man behind the “Miracle of Medinah” in 2012, when, as Captain, he led Europe to one of the most legendary comebacks the competition has ever seen.

Today, he continues to inspire new generations as Vice Captain, a role he also held during Europe’s recent triumph in 2025.

Francesco Molinari

“Chicco, the Hero of Carnoustie”

The most successful Italian golfer of all time. In 2018, he made history by becoming the first Italian player to win a Major Championship, claiming victory at The Open Championship.

A Ryder Cup legend: nicknamed “Moliwood” alongside Tommy Fleetwood, he remains the only European player ever to win 5 points out of 5 in a single edition (Paris 2018), securing the decisive point against the United States.

Vice Captain during the victorious 2025 campaign at Bethpage Black, he currently competes on the DP World Tour.

Edoardo Molinari

“The man who turned golf into an exact science”

Considered one of the most analytical minds in modern golf, “Dodo” became the first Italian player to win the U.S. Amateur Championship in 2005 and went on to claim three victories on the DP World Tour.

A legendary Ryder Cup figure, following Europe’s victories in Rome in 2023 and New York in 2025, he was recently confirmed as Vice Captain for a third consecutive time for the 2027 Ryder Cup in Ireland.
