Riviera Ligure and Portofino |

Once left behind Villa d'Este's magnificent park you will be driven towards the Riviera with
its maritime pine that surround the Portofino peninsula.
Portofino is an enchanting fishing village, known as the "Pearl of the Riviera", that has
become the refuge of some Europe's wealthiest and most discerning pleasure-seekers.
From the harbour, and the famous "piazzetta", by following the signs for the climb one can
reach the San Giorgio Castle from where to enjoy a breathtaking view of the coast.
Across the Castle is the church of San Giorgio, the village patron, which is supposed to
contain the Saint's relics, brought back from the Holy Land by the Crusaders.
Other excellent views can be seen from the lighthouse on the Punta del Capo, a quarter hour
walk along a marked path.
Around the mountain is the San Fruttuoso Abbey. Its bay can be reached either by boat or
after a two hours walk up the Portofino mount. The abbey is dated back to VIIIth century
but its actual Romanic architecture is dated to XIIIth century.
Other beautiful small cities nearby are Rapallo, Santa Margherita and Camogli.
Restaurant reservations available upon request.
